Meet Grace

My educational background and professional experience have given me the wisdom to recognize that every person has skills, resources, and value. I see it as my job to help you realize your potential and develop compassion for yourself.

As a doula, I am dedicated to supporting mothers and their families during the most transformative times in their lives—welcoming a new baby into their family and becoming parents. With a focus on the birthing person's emotional and physical recovery after birth, I aim to empower families both in person in Memphis, TN, and virtually.

My training as a systemic coach informs my work as a doula. I hold special consideration for everyone in the family system, helping each person develop their new roles and tend to their existing relationships. While preparation can be done for the postpartum period, life sometimes throws a curveball, and you may find that you need extra support—whether that is someone to talk to, a referral to a specialist, or in-home, hands-on care and companionship.

As a yoga teacher, I fully believe that yoga is for everyone. Yoga is not only about the physical postures, although that is what is most known in Western societies. It is a system of practices for treating a person holistically—body, mind, and soul—as well as a guide for navigating one’s relationship with oneself, others, and the environment.

Together, these approaches allow me to meet you where you are and walk with you as you grow.

Qualifications

  • My training took place in Miltenberg, Germany with Barbara Nagel in the tradition of T.K.V. Desikachar and T. Krishnamacharya. Over four years, I completed 2,280 hours of study encompassing anatomy, physiology, psychology, yoga philosophy, āsana, prāṇāyāma, meditation, sanskrit, vedic chanting, ethics, extensive self-study, and a written thesis. I am certified through BDY (Germany Yoga Teachers Association).

In my teaching, my focus lies with the breath—noticing its natural rhythm, coordinating movement with the inhales and exhales, and learning how to control and lengthen the breath. The breath is a tool to get our life-force (prāṇa) moving and serves as the bridge between body and mind. Through this connection, yoga becomes more than physical exercise; it becomes a path to inner awareness and balance.

  • I certified with ProDoula to provide exceptional support to families during the postpartum period.

  • Certified through Red Cross

  • I trained over the course of 2 years as a systemic counselor in Würzburg, Germany with the institute WISH. My certification is with DGSF (an accreditation and professional-umbrella organization in Germany for systemic therapy, counseling, coaching, family therapy, supervision, mediation, and organizational development).

  • I completed a 4-year Bachelor of Arts degree at Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana.

  • As a US-American who minored in German in college and lived in Germany for 10 years, I was able to become fluent in the language. If you’re a German native speaker, I’m happy to conduct my services in German.

Yoga is an ancient practice that originated in India. It includes self-reflection, physical postures (āsana), breathing techniques (prāṇāyāma), meditation, mantra, and mudras.
